Partnership for Children of the Foothills has once again partnered with the Tryon Rotary Club to bring a new “Little Library” to the community. The latest Little Library is located at the Sunny View Clubhouse in Polk County.

“We are so excited to be able to continue to grow our Little Library program,” said Partnership for Children of the Foothills Board Member, Cathleen Cullen. “We believe reading is crucial for development. Each Little Library we establish brings families together with the gift of reading and helps participants develop a lifelong love for books.”

Partnership for Children of the Foothills is combining its long relationship with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the Rotary Club of Tryon’s strong association with Reading is Fundamental to ensure the libraries remain filled with books to engage young readers.

The Sunny View Little Library can be found outside the Sunny View Clubhouse near their Blessing Box filled with non-perishable food for families in the Sunny View community. In addition to the children’s library, there is also a Little Library for older kids and adults.

“We are thrilled to have this addition to our community,” said Jessica Spivey-Raines, Activity Director at the Sunny View Clubhouse. “Anything we can do to encourage reading and make it more accessible is a winning proposition. We anticipate our Little Library being very popular.”

The first Little Library was installed at Harmon Field last year. The project began when the Rotary Club acquired wooden shells for the cabinet-style libraries and members hand painted them with bright, cheerful designs to attract children. With the success of the current installations, the club plans to add additional Little Libraries across Polk County.
