Pavillon Substance Use Disorder Center celebrates 26 years

Nestled in the beautiful scenic foothills of Mill Spring in Western North Carolina lies a hidden gem: Pavillon Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Center. Its roots go back to 1997 when Gilles and Liliane Desjardins manifested their personal mission to create a world-class, nonprofit treatment center. Flash forward 26 years, and Pavillon remains driven by their model of patient recovery, rather than profits, with effective, proprietary treatment programs tailored to each individual patient to meet their individual SUD challenges for long-term recovery. A nationally and industry-recognized leadership team and CEO, and a deep interest in each patient’s long-term recovery, result in above-average success rates.

Centered in the 12-Step approach to SUD recovery, Pavillon is motivated by results, not profits. As a nonprofit team, and with a 6:1 patient-to-counselor ratio, Pavillon’s salaried professionals may invest all the time necessary with individuals to achieve success and results, which is uncommon in today’s pharma-centric SUD treatment industry.

Pavillon’s success ratio can be attributed to several important factors that make them stand out in the SUD field. First comes individual daily patient analysis. Each day, Pavillon program directors and leaders meet to discuss each patient’s progress in depth.

The next reason is Pavillon’s “All In” team. Pavillon’s mission and commitment to every individual’s recovery is horizontal, stretching across every discipline from housekeeping to our awarded, accredited, and industry-recognized leadership team.

Another important factor is Pavillon’s Alumni Program and Network. Patients receive recovery management for a year, and alumni support for life, through a nationwide alumni network and regional support groups. This is of critical importance because relapse is very common in patients who exit a program without receiving additional support.

The next reason for success makes Pavillon stand head and shoulders above industry standards – their six-week treatment program. Up to two weeks longer than most programs, Pavillon’s residential program delivers 41 days of focused treatment. Research confirms that longer programs result in greater long-term patient recovery.

Finally, each patient’s program is individually tailored to include health, wellness, spirituality and recovery management designed to fit their individual challenges and needs.

At Pavillon, nature itself plays a role in patient recovery – 160 acres with a waterfall, stone pool, walking trails, ridgetops, and birdsongs. The majesty and serenity of the land brings patients deep connection and tranquility they will not find in any office building or strip mall in the middle of a city.

Pavillon is located outside the North Carolina community of Sunny View, just a few miles south of the popular vacation destinations of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock in Western North Carolina. The address is 241 Pavillon Place, Mill Spring, NC 28756.
