In honor of the September 11 tragedy, an event will be held at the Veterans Park in Columbus on September 10. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will include a special memorial tribute service, in honor of the heroes of 9/11, from Columbus Fire Cheif Tony Preister.
Following the ceremony, a bluegrass concert will be held featuring some of the best area bluegrass gospel groups, featuring the King James Boys, the Golden Valley Crusaders, the Right Side, Colt Creek, and Mike Upright. There will also be a special and rare reunion of Mike’s group, Standing Tall.
Food will be available from Foothills BBQ and a dessert sale will also be held, with proceeds going to the Columbus Fire Department’s Benevolence fund.
There is no admission charge, but donations of any size are welcome and appreciated. Please bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the fire department. Columbus’ Veterans Park is located at 40 Gibson St. in Columbus. For more information, call (828) 817-3722.
