There are currently five dogs running for Tryon Dog Mayor 2022. The election will be held on August 26 in downtown Tryon, during that month’s Fourth Friday event. To vote, those who want to cast their ballot will submit one dollar for their preferred candidate, and all proceeds go toward the FHS and TDDA.

As of press time, there are five candidates in the running for Dog Mayor, which include a Chihuahua, a Shitzu, a Jindo, a Patterdale Terrier, and a Schnoodle.

If you would like your dog to become a candidate, you can submit your dog’s information at tryondogmayor.com.

This is the second Dog Mayor election in Tryon. In 2019, Tryon hosted their first Dog Mayor election, which had 18 candidates, one of which was a cat. Rusty Bunshine, the 3-year-old orange cat, ran during the 2019 Dog Mayor election and won. Now the time has come to elect a new Dog Mayor of Tryon.

In 2019, the fundraiser raised over $16,000 for the animal shelter according to the fundraiser’s website. To cast your vote, visit tryondogmayor.com.
