Local fire departments respond to medical emergency alongside I-26 East

Motor vehicle accident occurs at the scene as officials assist, driver nearly hits personnel

 

SALUDA – On Saturday, June 4, around 4:55 p.m., Columbus’ Ladder 22 and Saluda’s Engine 23 responded to a medical emergency alongside I-26 East near the 61.5 mile marker. After arriving at the scene, officials declared that the victim had suffered from a seizure and was transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.

According to Lieutenant Will Craine of the Columbus Fire Department, approximately five minutes after responding to the scene, a motor vehicle accident took place at the same location. During the accident, the driver nearly hit the personnel and fire equipment assisting with the medical emergency. 

 

There were no injuries reported and as of press time it is unknown if the driver responsible for the motor vehicle accident faced any charges.
