Another single motor vehicle accident on the Saluda Grade

Wreck occurs a few hours after tractor-trailer flips at same location

 

COLUMBUS – Thursday morning a single motor vehicle accident occurred on I-26 East around the 63.5 mile marker in Columbus. I-26 East was completely shut down due to personnel safety and reopened around 30 minutes later, once the wreckage was removed and officials deemed it safe to do so.

Emergency officials quickly arrived on scene, including Saluda’s Engine 23 and Columbus’ Rescue 22 and Ladder 22.

Earlier Thursday morning, a semi-truck overturned at mile marker 63 making the single motor vehicle accident the second wreck to happen at approximately the same location in the span of 6 hours. One lane of traffic remained open during the cleanup of the overturned tractor-trailer.
