Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It was Mrs. Charles (Emma) Erskine’s passion and vision that brought golf to Tryon.  The Tryon Country Club (TCC) was established in 1916 and although realized due to a woman’s efforts, it was another 30 years before a women’s golf group was established.

In 1947 the Tryon Women’s Golf Association (TWGA) was formed and its first tournament was held on May 28, 1947. Today the 36 members of TWGA are celebrating 75 years of women’s golf at TCC!

There will be a celebratory luncheon in the Donald Ross Room at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 31. The present members of the TWGA would like to extend an invitation to past members in the community to join us in our celebration and welcome you to share any stories of your time with TWGA.

If you are interested in attending, please call Gerald Weathers, TCC’s Golf Professional at 828.859.9561 and let him know you will be joining the TWGA luncheon on May 31.
