SALUDA – Mildred Pace Metcalf, 87, of the Fork Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, at Spartanburg Medical Center surrounded by her family.
A native and lifelong resident of Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Bob Lee Pace and Cora Metcalf Pace and wife of the late G.L. Metcalf who passed away in 2018. Mildred loved gardening, sewing, playing the piano, raising chickens, and her four-legged best friend, Maggie.
Surviving is one son, Richard Metcalf (Lynn) of Flat Rock; two daughters, Cindy Hursey of Mocksville and Lisa Ward (Brian) of Campobello; one sister, Amy Blackwell of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Aaron Hursey, Phillip Hursey, Matthew Hursey, David Hursey, Kevin Metcalf, Drew Metcalf, Haley Elliott, Jacob Elliott, Brandon Ward, and Brianna Stepp. Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 7, 2022, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Shields officiating.
Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 11 Media Lane, Saluda, North Carolina 28773.
