Columbus– James “Jimmy” Smith, 86, of Columbus, NC, formerly of Savannah, GA, and husband of Margie Villanueva Smith, went home to be with his heavenly Father, on Thursday evening, April 7, 2022, with his devoted and loving wife by his side until he drew his last breath.
Jimmy was a loving husband, and friend to many. Jimmy is survived by his wife Margie, his caring Month-In-Law, Julieta Villanueva, his brother Jerry (Cheryl) Smith, Bluffton, SC, his sons Kevin and Bryan Smith, Savannah, GA. Jimmy was predeceased by his Mother and Father, Ruby and Hopper Smith, and brother, Sonny Smith.
Jim was born In Good Water, Alabama, on February 10, 1936, and moved to Savannah, GA, in 1953. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1954. Jimmy was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve for eight years.
Jimmy spent most of his life in the construction business and was an accomplished woodworker. Jimmy was an avid golfer and fisherman.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at their home on Easter Sunday at 2 pm.
Jimmy will be missed by many.
