Foothills Gymnastics Academy gymnasts brought home a number of medal-winning finishes from a pair of recent meets.

On March 27, FGA took part in the Sterling Classic in Buford, Ga. Kendall Medina, Aria Springs and Emma Whitehurst represented FGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Kylie Whitinger participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Sherlyn Trejo competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

For FGA Bronze:

• Medina received 35.0 all-around from her 9.3 on vault, 8.75 on beam and 8.7 on floor. She earned her highest vault score this season.
• Springs achieved 34.125 all-around from her 9.0 on bars, 8.875 on beam and 8.7 on floor.
• Whitehurst won fifth place all-around with 36.375 from her 9.25 on bar, 9.075 on vault, tie for fourth on floor with 9.05, and 9.0 on balance beam. She improved on every event and got her highest all-around score so far.

For FGA Gold:

• Whitinger got 35.85 all-around from her second place on bars with 9.35, 9.1 on bars, 8.85 on vault and 8.55 on floor. She competed back tuck for the first time this season. She also got her highest bar score and her highest beam score this season.

For Xcel Platinum:

• Trejo achieved first all-around in her division with 37.875 from her first on bars with 9.65, first on vault with 9.45, tied for first on floor with 9.4 and tied for second on beam with 9.375. She earned her highest bar score this season.

On April 2, FGA took part in the North Carolina AAU fourth Qualifier – West in Fletcher.

Anna Bucher, Kendall Medina, Aria Springs, Alia Vorbe and Emma Whitehurst represented FGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Genevieve Ard, ScottLynn Whiteside and Kylie Whitinger participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Anna-Carlisle Keim and Sherlyn Trejo competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

For FGA Bronze:

• Bucher earned 36.55 all-around from her second place on floor with 9.25, 9.35 on bar, 9.05 on beam and 8.9 on vault. She improved her all-around from raising her floor, bar and beam scores, which included personal bests on bar and beam.
• Medina received 34.35 from her 8.9 on bar and 8.7 on floor.
• Springs achieved fifth place all-around in her division with 35.4 from her third place on beam with 9.0, 9.0 on floor, 8.7 on vault and 8.7 on bar. She raised her all-around score from improving her beam and floor scores.
• Vorbe received fourth place in her division with 35.9 all-around from her 9.15 on bar, third place on floor with 9.05, 8.95 on beam and third place on vault with 8.75. She raised her bar score from the previous competition.
• Whitehurst won second place all-around with her 36.8 all-around from first on beam with 9.4, second on vault with 9.1, third on bar with 9.3 and tied for fourth on floor with 9.0. She improved her all-around score from raising her bar score, vault score and beam score.

The Bronze team won a team award.

For FGA Gold:

• Ard earned first place in her division with 38.05 from her first on beam with 9.6, tied for first on floor with 9.55, 9.6 on bar and third on vault with 9.3. She achieved her highest all-around this season as well as the second highest in her session.
• Whiteside received 36.7 all-around from her third place on beam with 9.25, 9.35 on bar, 9.2 on floor and 8.9 on vault. She raised her all-around score almost 2 points from her previous competition from improving each of her individual events as well as earning a judge’s medal for most improved on vault.
• Whitinger got 34.85 all-around from her 9.25 on bars, 9.0 on vault and 8.85 on floor. She improved her floor score from the previous competition.

The Gold team won a third place team award.

For FGA Platinum:

• Keim earned third place in her division with her 35.6 all-around from her second on floor with 9.35, fourth on vault with 9.1, and fourth on bar with 9.0. As this was her first qualifier this season, her all-around score was high enough to qualify to go to state.
• Trejo achieved first all-around in her division with 38.45 from her first on beam with 9.75, first on floor with 9.7, first on bar with 9.6 and first on vault with 9.4. She also achieved the highest in her session.

The platinum team also earned a team award.

FGA coaches are pleased that all of the gymnasts qualify to go to state and continue to improve their personal bests.

FGA athletes will next compete April 23 at the Ultimate competition in Duluth, Ga.
