“We Believe in You” and “We Support You” scholarships are available
CAMPOBELLO––The Town of Campobello is offering $1,000 scholarships toward future education for a high school senior and someone wishing to go back to school.
Seniors who apply for the “We Believe in You” scholarship should be residents of Campobello, the first in their family to attend college and have unmet financial needs.
To apply for the scholarship, students must write an essay about themselves, why they should be awarded the scholarship, what their plans are for the upcoming year and what it would mean to them to be the first in their family to graduate college.
Kim Hyder, Town Clerk, says, “So it’s fair to everyone, names and addresses are blocked out on envelopes.”
Applications must be postmarked no later than April 15. The winning recipient will be announced on May 7 at 1 p.m. at Campobello’s Family Fun Day event.
In addition, the Town of Campobello is offering a “We Support You” scholarship for those who want to go back to school to better themselves and help their family. This scholarship is also $1,000.
Applicants for this scholarship must also live in Campobello and be the first in their family to attend college. They must write an essay explaining why they should be awarded this scholarship, what their plans are for the upcoming year, and what it would mean to be the first in their family to graduate college.
Applications must be postmarked no later than May 27. The winning recipient will be announced on July 5 at 7 p.m. at the July Town Council Meeting at Campobello Fire Department.
Hyder says, “We just want to give back to the community and help somehow. A thousand dollars might not be a lot to throw at an education, but it’s something we can give.”
All essays must be mailed to Town Hall, PO Box 9, Campobello, SC 29322, marked either “Believe Scholarship” or “We Support You Scholarship.”
