Foothills Gymnastics Academy shine in competition

Foothills Gymnastics Academy (FGA) participated in the 2022 Coastal Classic on March 3rd and 4th in Myrtle Beach, SC. The team did amazing against teams from 19 different states! Hadley Pereira and Aria Springs represented FGA at the AAU Xcel bronze level. Genevieve Ard, ScottLynn Whiteside and Kylie Whitinger participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Sherlyn Trejo competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

 

In terms of the bronze team, Hadley won 1st place all-around in her division with 37.675 from her 1st on bars with 9.6, 1st on beam with 9.6, 3rd on vault with 9.25 and 4th on floor with 9.225. She raised her all-around from the previous competition by improving each individual event score as well as scoring her highest bar and beam scores of the season. Aria achieved 35.875 all-around from her 4th place on beam with 9.35, 9.05 on bar, 8.925 on floor and 8.55 on vault. She improved her all-around from raising her beam, vault and bar scores. She earned her highest beam score this season and has raised her all-around score in each competition.

In terms of FGA’s gold team, Genevieve tied for first place all-around even after someone ran out in front of her during her first vault; she shook it off and recovered like a champion getting her highest vault score of the season! She received 36.975 all-around from her 1st place on vault with 9.35, 2nd place on beam with 9.225, tied for 2nd on floor with 9.25 and tied for fourth on the bar with 9.15. ScottLynn went out there and crushed it despite her heels bothering her! She received 34.75 all-around from her 9.175 on floor, 9.015 on bar, 8.5 on vault and 8.05 on beam. Kylie pushed through every routine; even with having six rips on each hand, she showed the strength it takes to be a gymnast! She got 35.075 all-around from her 8.9 on beam, 8.825 on bar, 8.8 on floor and 8.550 on vault. 

 

For Xcel platinum, Sherlyn walked away as a coastal queen, meaning she had the highest score out of everyone in her session! Sherlyn earned 1st place all-around with 37.525 from her 1st on bars with 9.525, 1st on beam with 9.45, 1st on floor with 9.425 and 2nd on floor with 9.125.

 

Each week these girls come to the gym and work hard and each weekend it shows on the competition floor! All of the FGA coaches couldn’t be more proud!
