Recently, board members of the Polk County Historical Association were reminded that a 1982 time capsule is due to be opened after 40 years of storage. According to the writing on the capsule, the time capsule is to be opened in February, 2022.
So the directors have designated the last Saturday in February to be the date for the capsule opening. This will occur at the Polk County Museum in Columbus on February 26, at 1p.m. The public is invited to attend and learn what local historians thought was important forty years ago.
PCHA volunteers who were involved in 1982 are asked to come join the activity. According to James Metcalf, longtime board member and chief docent for the museum, “their presence would be cherished to attend and speak a bit about the capsule.”
Please plan to come to the party.
