Vandals have struck again at the Glassy Mountain Fire Service Area (GMFSA)’s Dividing Water Substation. The substation, which is located at the Les Mullinax Park, is one of five stations that serve the GMFSA’s 52 square miles of the Upstate. Over the past year the station has been vandalized by graffiti, a break-in, and the latest damage, which was the disconnection and dislocation of the department’s propane tank. Under SC Code of Laws, conviction of malicious injury to personal property may lead to hefty fines, imprisonment, or both.

The damage to public property comes at a cost to the citizens so the department is asking for your help. Anyone who has information concerning the previous defacement and damage is asked to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at (864)271-5210 or the GMFSA at (864)895-4306. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately.
