Residents asked to stay sheltered in place until Monday

SALUDA—The City of Saluda declared a state of emergency at the beginning of Winter Storm “Izzy” that dumped 15.5 inches of snow on the small mountain town.

The state of emergency was signed by Saluda Mayor Tangie Morgan and was effective beginning at midnight January 15 until 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17.

The city asked that all residents remain sheltered in place and stay tuned to local news, weather stations and social media for important updates until the declaration was lifted.

Declaring a state of emergency helps local governments receive state and federal funding following disasters for any extra expenses incurred.
