Saluda’s electric car charger installed and being utilized

SALUDA—A Jeep hybrid was spotted this week in downtown Saluda charging up. 

The city recently installed a new EV charging station downtown for electric vehicles. 

The installation was done through a grant from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. 

The charging station was installed earlier this month. The grant was made possible through a Volkswagen settlement. The station includes a pedestal and 2 charging ports that comply with requirements. The station is in parking spaces for electric vehicles near the post office.
