History program recognizes veterans

On Tuesday, November 9th the Polk County Historical Museum is offering a special Veterans Day program beginning at 2pm. The presentation will start with the story of Cpl Thomas Greenway, who was a medic while serving in the Korean War with the 8th Army.

 

Greenway trained in boot camp with another medic Polk Medal of Honor winner Bryant Womack. Presenter James Metcalf will be speaking about Greenway’s life growing up in the Green Creek community. The program will cover the young corporal’s near death experiences as well as his life after the war.

PCHA board member James Metcalf will be moderating the interview and sharing stories of other Polk County veterans. Cpl Greenway’s uniform will be on display as well as many photographs of the time period..
