Shelby, NC– Marcella Page Greene of Shelby, North Carolina, formerly of Forest City, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills. She was born January 24, 1931, in Green Creek, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late James Herbert and Thelma Jones Page of Green Creek, North Carolina.
Marcella was a graduate of Green Creek High School where she played on the Girls’ Basketball Team. On December 14 in 1946, Marcella married J. V. Greene of the Green River Community in Polk County. J. V. was a son of Belton and Docia Steadman Greene. J. V. died in a car accident on May 17, 1971.
Marcella married Glenn Newton of Shelby in 1977. Glenn died in 1996.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Coralie Page Gosey and husband Robert of Augusta, Georgia, her brothers, Alvin Page of Waco, North Carolina, and James Page of Forest City, and brother-in-law, Yates Greene, and wife Fay of Spindale.
She was employed by PPG Industries and later at Burlington Industries where she retired. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Shelby.
Survivors include her son, Michael Greene and his spouse Phillip Greene of Forest City, her daughters, Sheila Greene Morgan and her husband Stewart of Shelby and Kathy Greene of Shelby, her grandson, Teddy Brian Scism of Raleigh, and her great-granddaughter, Jessica and husband Tyler Heinowski of Braselton, Georgia, her great-great-granddaughters, River and Zailee Heinowski also of Braselton, Georgia, her brother, William Henry Page and wife Marlene of Green Creek, sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Page of Forest City and Nancy Page Smith of Ellenboro,  her brother-in-law, Kenneth Greene and wife Lynda of Green Creek, a cousin, Bobby Wood of Asheboro, a niece, Phyllis Lawing of Cherryville, and her loving dog, Dolly.
The funeral service will be held at two o’clock on Monday, November 1, 2021, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Garin Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Green River Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 on Monday prior to the service at Padgett and King.
