Collision occurred Monday at Highway 14 and Lexington Road

 

LANDRUM—A Landrum woman died in a vehicle crash Monday. 

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office reported that Len Foongpeng, 69, of Landrum was pronounced dead at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center at 4:45 p.m. Monday. 

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 1:22 p.m. on Highway 14 near Owl’s Nest Road. 

The driver of a Ford pickup was traveling east on Highway 14 and the driver of a Lotus coupe was traveling south, according to state troopers. The driver of the Ford pickup traveled left of center and struck the Lotus head on. 

Both drivers were taken to the hospital but Foongpeng succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. 

A forensic examination was scheduled for later Monday. 

The driver of the pickup truck, Joe Dean Smith, 77, was charged with traveling left of center.
