SPARTANBURG, SC– Carol Marie Cowan, 84, passed away at the Upstate Community Hospice House on September 25, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Lee Anderson and Marie Lashua Cowan.
She retired from Hoechst Celanese as a Lab Technician. Carol loved photography and all things equestrian. She volunteered at the Tryon Historical Museum and provided many photographs and local history regarding the equestrian community in Tryon. She loved being the matriarch for all of her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Carol enjoyed many lunches and celebrations with her lifelong friends.

She is survived by a brother, Bobby Cowan, a sister, Penny Cowan Honeycutt and was a beloved aunt and grandmother figure to all of her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Ruth Cowan Yonce and Betty Susan Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Polk Memorial Gardens conducted by Chaplain Justin Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
