TRYON–Dorothy Nauman Wyckoff was born on April 6, 1932, Martins Ferry, Ohio and died on May 7, 2021 Tryon with her devoted companion Princess by her side. She was the daughter of the late Suzanne Noble Nauman and John H. Nauman, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years Eugene (Gene) Wyckoff and her sister Patricia Nauman Kramer. Left to cherish the memory of their beloved “cool” Aunt Dotty are her nieces and nephews Suzy Kramer Lucci (Fred), John Nauman Kramer (Kristina), J. McLain Kramer (Lelia) and Cary Kramer and great nieces and nephews Hannah, Madison, Charlie and Henry Kramer, Katy and Sara Lucci and Micah Kramer.

Dorothy graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Home Economics. She taught elementary school in Columbus and St. Clairsville, Ohio and in Tryon. Dorothy moved to Tryon when she married her high school sweetheart Gene. She fell in love with Tryon and its people. She and Gene had great friends, especially the members of the “Wilderness Hill gang” as she liked to call them. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and hostess and talented in needlework and rug making. She loved to entertain her many friends and her warm and inviting homes were all reflective of her skills and personality. Active in the community, Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer as a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Her love of the fine arts was evident in her many years volunteering for the Tryon Fine Arts Center, the Children’s Festival and the Tryon Concert Association. She also gave her time as a volunteer for the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center. She enjoyed an active lifestyle visiting the pool and the gym.

A service honoring Dorothy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Tryon, NC.
