2 more weeks of Hoopz
Basketball program for youth ends on Friday, Aug. 20
TRYON—Local ballers have just 2 more weeks to take advantage of Hoopz, a basketball program at Harmon Field.
The program was started by Steve Martinez, the youth pastor at Columbus First Baptist Church and began last month. There have been more than 40 youth playing basketball every Friday night since last month at the open-air gym at Harmon Field in Tryon.
The tournament includes the winning team receiving $100 every Friday night that is provided by local sponsors.
Hoopz provides water and Gatorades and prizes to participants.
The tournaments are 3-on-3 with 4 people on each team. The tournaments begin at 6 p.m. every Friday with this Friday and next Friday being the last tournaments for this season.
