Tryon, NC—Stephen “Steve” Morley Foster, 80, of Tryon, NC passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

Steve was born on September 5, 1940, to the late Ezelle and Dorothy Ford Foster. He attended Marathon High School in Marathon Florida and was part of the 1959 graduating class. He was a mechanic by trade, owning and operating Steve’s Gulf and Steve’s BP in Tryon, NC. At 59 he was able to retire and enjoy the things that he loved most in life including, spending time with his family and grandchildren, family RVing trips, NASCAR, riding though the mountains, Ford Mustangs and Harmon Field. 

Surviving is his wife of 22 years, Shirley McEntyre Foster; two daughters, Lorri Smith of Belmont, NC and Julie Collins (Jeff) of Landrum, SC; grandchildren, Jake, Sarah and Rebecca all of Belmont, NC, Will Whitman (Kerri) of Simpsonville, SC and Emorie of Landrum, SC and two great granddaughters, Willow and McKenna. Also surviving is a lifelong friend in which he shared a special bond with Derrick Canady.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and Caregivers for the care and tremendous support they provided over the last two years, Trish Green, Johanna Searcy, Julie Thorn and Zelda Howell.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
