MILL SPRING – Larry Marion Denton, 78, of Mill Spring, passed away Saturday evening, May 8, 2021 at his home.


Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Lewis Denton and Eve Case Denton. Mr. Denton was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Watts Regulators in Rutherfordton. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and bear hunting. Mr. Denton was a member of Faith Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Ritchey.


Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Betty Murray Denton; one son, Lewis Denton of Mill Spring; two daughters, Gail Dyer (John) of Green Creek and Glenda Calton (Jonathan) of Bostic; six grandchildren, Johnlewis, Larry, Luke, Noah, Lea Ann and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Asher; one brother, Harry Denton of Columbus.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Faith Temple Baptist Church, Mill Spring with Dr. Chris Osborn and Reverend Steve Price officiating.


The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church.


Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
