No charges in Saluda shooting

Recent shooting deemed accidental

SALUDA—A shooting that occurred on March 21 in Saluda where a victim was shot in the leg was recently deemed accidental. 

The City of Saluda alerted the public on Thursday that investigating law enforcement agencies concluded that it was an accidental discharge of a firearm and no charges will be filed against the owner of the firearm.

The incident occurred on a Saturday night when a visitor to Saluda from Rutherford County was shot in the leg and was admitted to Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, then later transferred to Mission Hospital in Asheville for the injury. The victim was said to be in stable condition at the time. 

The Saluda Police Department worked with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident. 

City of Saluda officials said on Thursday the investigation is closed and there will be no further information available.
