April Fool’s Day packs a punch to more than 1,100 in Foothills
FOOTHILLS—High winds Wednesday night into Thursday morning packed an April Fool’s Day punch to 1,141 Duke Energy customers in the Foothills Thursday.
About 711 Duke Energy customers woke up to no power in the Tryon area Thursday. While some customers received power by noon, others did not get power back until Thursday evening.
Then later Thursday evening there were about 430 customers who lost power in the Landrum/Campobello area.
The winds did damage around the area by knocking down trees and power lines.
The Town of Tryon sent notice that Lynn Road was closed Thursday morning. There were 2 power poles that were down between Erskine Road and Harmon Field Road. Duke Energy and the North Carolina Department of Transportation worked to repair the damage throughout the day. People detoured around the area through Harmon Field Road and back onto U.S. 176.
