TRYON —Nelson “Bud” Mayfield Pace, 88 of Tryon, NC passed away at his home with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Bud was born in Saluda, NC, he was one of 29 children born to the late Ransom and Etta Pace.   Bud was a talented local rock mason for over 40 years, some of his work can be seen at the local churches in Tryon.  He later went on to run a backhoe and enjoyed using it to complete many jobs in the local Tryon area.  Bud was a dedicated member of Tryon First Baptist Church, he loved his church and proudly served as a deacon and on many committees including the renovation and the house and grounds committee.

In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by his 28 siblings.

Surviving is the love of his life, his wife of 69 years, Georgia Huntsinger Pace, a niece, Carolyn Caughman (Ricky) and multiple other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.  Due to COVID-19, please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.
