Congratulations to Michelle Fortune and the St. Luke’s family for the positive changes that continue to be made at our community’s hospital. I was particularly excited to read about the restructuring of the Emergency Department. These departments are so important in small communities but also very difficult to manage because of the lack of sufficient, skilled ED physicians. Ms. Fortune’s leadership and knowledge continue to improve our local hospital.
This new collaboration with the Pardee Physician Group is truly a wonderful change for St. Luke’s and all of us who receive care there. We should all be comfortable and pleased with this enhancement to emergency care in Polk County. Knowing that a skilled team is in the ED and that they also have the ability to transport to a higher level of care quickly if needed should make all residents feel comfortable about choosing St. Luke’s first for their emergency care.
After losing our local community hospice, it is exciting to watch the staying power and improvements in care at St. Luke’s.
As a nurse and nurse practitioner who has worked in six states and two countries, I continue to be impressed by the excellent health care available in this small community. So, St. Luke’s, thank you for all you do for us.
