COLUMBUSEverette Eugene Durham, 54, of Columbus, went to meet his Dad Monday evening, February 1, 2021 after a brief illness.

Born in Polk County, he was the son of Margaret Edwards Durham of Columbus and the late Gary Eugene Durham. Everette was a Civil War buff and took part in several reenactments. Everette also loved racing. He and his brother raced 4 cycle Chevrolet Vegas at Asheville Speedway several years ago and won several trophies. Everette worked with his brother at BMW by WD until his stroke. At the time of his death, he was accompanying his brother Warren to road racing at Virginia International Raceway, where he helped maintain the car and kept his brother safe.

Surviving in addition to his mother is one brother, Warren Durham (Rowena) and a special niece, Samantha.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 in Polk Memorial Gardens with Reverend Timothy Fortune officiating.
