Food Lion, Outreach partner to feed families over the holidays
Food Lion and Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry have joined the effort to help provide Polk County children with food during the holidays.
Outreach board member, David Scherping, delivered 140 food boxes to Sunny View Elementary School on Wednesday. The boxes were donated by Food Lion and will be distributed to families in the community.
Sunny View Principal Preston Allen received the boxes and will share those on Thursday during the large distribution event planned by Polk County Schools’ Child Nutrition department. That event will see 10 holiday meals provided to local families with children age 18 and under. Those meals were picked up between 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Sunny View Elementary or at the Polk County Schools Bus Garage in Columbus.
For more information about the food distribution, please call 828-894-3051.
