Letter to the editor
I would like to express my gratitude to Commissioner Ray Gasperson for his years of service to our county. During his four terms, he showed us how seriously he took this job. He did lots of research and homework and attended many state meetings and workshops so he was always prepared to make informed decisions. His manner has been thoughtful and considerate, but he never backed downed from confronting powerful outside influences that might want to take advantage of our county.
I also appreciate that he has been very careful with our taxpayer money, as shown by his record of being one of the most fiscally conservative commissioners in recent history.
Ray has always stood up for the WHOLE county and over the last 12 years, has made many friends. This is in no small part due to the fact that he was always willing to listen and talk to everyone and freely gave out his personal phone number and email. People always knew that what he told them was what he truly believed, not just what he thought you wanted to hear. He also made many friends by showing how seriously he took his responsibilities to the many county employees.
He is an unusually gifted community servant and leader who has lived out his belief in good government. Thank you, Ray, for caring so much about our county.
