Saluda manager takes new job in Oregon

SALUDA—Saluda City Manager Jonathan Cannon has resigned his position.

Cannon has been with the city for 5 years and was its first manager. Prior to Cannon, the city had an administrator form of government.

Cannon submitted his resignation on Tuesday after accepting a job in Oregon.

He will continue to work until Dec. 22, with his resignation effective on Dec. 31.

“Thank you for the support and opportunities that you have provided me during the last five years,” Cannon said in his resignation letter. “I have truly enjoyed my tenure with the City of Saluda. I am grateful for the encouragement you have given me in pursuing my professional and personal goals.”

Cannon accepted the manager position for Baker City, Oregon. Baker City has a population of 10,000 people.

“I am sad to leave Saluda,” Cannon said. “The Board of Commissioners and citizens have been so good to me. It truly is a charming city and an amazing place to live. I am grateful to have been a part of something great. I work with some of the best professionals in the business. I am excited to step into a new adventure in Baker City. I look forward to expanding my opportunities.”
