During her formative years Gillian was schooled in South Africa, Switzerland, and England. After attending the University of Geneva, she returned to the United States where she studied at the NY School of Design, the Harvard Design program, and later, was a member of and studied at the Institute of Classical Architecture and Design (ICAA). For decades, she made her personal and professional life in Manhattan where she worked with the best known, most prestigious designers of the day.

She then started her unique design business, Drummond House Interiors, a wildly successful venture that she brought with her to Tryon when she came to care for her parents. She fell in love with the area and never left. Gillian’s unending passion was making the world more beautiful with her dedication to the art of design. She was a life-long learner in all arena. With her professional and artistic brilliance and commitment she assisted people in transforming their environments. From literature to politics to spirituality, her cosmopolitan essence and way of life have enriched the lives of all her beloved friends. We adored her. She was a gift to us. Her vibrant, infectious laughter was contagious and delighted us all. Gillian was a treasured and gifted friend who is now painting rainbows brilliant colors and chilling the Chardonnay awaiting the arrival of the rest of us as we once again share marvelously eclectic conversations of depth, raucous laughter and bouquets of love.
