County up to 107 cases of COVID-19

 

POLK COUNTY—Polk County has had one more death from COVID-19.

The county released new data Thursday that said the county has a total of 107 cases and 5 deaths.

The latest death was listed in the Tryon zip code. The other 4 deaths have been in the Saluda zip code.

Polk County has had a total of 107 positive cases, with 81 of those presumed recovered.

The county has done a total of 2,440 tests, with 2,178 of those being negative. There are currently 109 tests pending.

The county has done a total of 718 drive-thru tests.

Of the county’s positive tests, 57 percent have been female and 43 percent have been male.

Most of the positive tests have been in individuals 65 years and older, at about 45; about 30 positives have been in individuals age 25-40; almost 20 have been in individuals aged 50-64 and less than 10 each have been in individuals aged 0-17 and 18-24, according to county data as of Thursday evening.

As of Friday, North Carolina was approaching 100,000 positive tests. The state had 95,477 positive tests as of Friday, with 1,180 people currently hospitalized. North Carolina has completed 1,343,974 tests.

As of Friday, Buncombe County had 1,044 positive cases with 40 deaths; Henderson County had 1,034 cases and 51 deaths; Rutherford County had 444 cases and 10 deaths and Transylvania County had 68 cases and 1 death, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
