Testing available this week in Polk
POLK COUNTY—Polk County is extending its drive-thru COVID-19 testing this week and next for free with no appointment necessary.
Testing this week included from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16 at the former Polk County Jail and next week is Tuesday, July 21 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Tryon Elementary School and Thursday, July 30 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Tryon International Equestrian Center.
The testing is done on a first-come, first-serve basis and no appointment is needed for the drive-thru testing. People can be tested with or without symptoms.
Test results are expected to be available 4-5 business days from the test. The Polk County Division of Public Health follows up with people who have been tested to provide results, whether positive or negative, and additional education and instruction as needed.
The testing is free while supplies last.
Polk County is also offering testing at the health department on days it does not do the drive-thru service. Appointments are needed for testing at the health department. To make an appointment people should call 828-722-5086.
