County commissioners to hold call in, email for public hearings

COLUMBUS—The Polk County Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday and hold 2 public hearings in a different fashion.

County officials sent notice Friday that the meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, with commissioners and staff present, but the public will not be allowed because of the governor’s orders regarding gatherings of 10 people or more.

People will be able to call in and listen to the meeting by calling 1-800-753-1965 and using the access code of 8946129.

The meeting will also be streamed live on Facebook on the Polk County Local Government page.

The agenda includes a budget work session, a public hearing on the budget for fiscal year 2020-2021 and another public hearing regarding the issuance by the public finance authority of its ACTS Retirement Life Communities, Inc. obligated group, series 2020 bonds.

In order to make public comments for the public hearings, people should either email their comments to ahigh@polknc.org or call the clerk to the board at 828-894-3301, ext. 221 by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 18. People who email their comments should include their first and last name, address and the comment and include whether the comment is for one of the public hearings or for the regular meeting.

All comments will be read into record by the clerk during Monday’s regular meeting.
