Church beyond the walls
To carry on Building the Beloved Community, Sunday, April 19 was the Congregational Church in Tryon’s “Church Beyond the Walls” Sunday.
Typically, the week after Easter, church members would gather together and go out into the community to complete projects and be the church out in the world. This year, despite the need for social distancing that keeps us physically apart, church members still wanted to be the church out in the world in ways that are safe to do so right now. There were some great pictures and people shared their stories during the virtual community hour.
Church members picked up trash in several different locations, wrote encouraging notes to other members of the congregation, and worked on the church’s community garden. The kids created cards for their postal workers during virtual Pajama Church. Below you see a few pictures that were received, but there were more many more people who were doing good work.
