TRYON — David Lomax Hart, 74, went to join his Lord on April 2, 2020 with his loving family around him. 

 

Born in Greenwood, South Carolina to Robert William and Adeline Hay Brunson Hart, David graduated from Wofford College and went on to the University of South Carolina, earning an MBA. After serving in the US Army, David worked for Roy Panther and Company before joining Duke Power, where he worked for 34 years in various levels of management. After retirement David could be found cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks, playing golf, enjoying bridge and being an avid book collector.  David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. 

 

For decades, David was actively involved in numerous civic organizations include Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Art Councils, Friends of the Library, Chambers of Commerce and many other civic affairs in each town where he lived. 

 

David is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Patricia Panther Hart, their son Jeffrey David Hart (Luanne) of Columbia, SC, their daughter Julia Hart Schlegel (Simon) of Mills River, NC and their three beloved grandchildren Caroline Hart, Luke and Lexi Schlegel. Also surviving are his two brothers Trapier Hart of Greenville, SC and Carroll Hart of Taylors, SC as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. David is predeceased by his parents and bothers Alexander Hart and Robert Hart.

 

Due to current world events, David will be laid to rest in his family plot in Ridge Spring, SC and a memorial service will take place at Tryon Methodist Church on a future date when friends and family can safely gather. 

 

David requested any memorial contributions be made to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, South Carolina 29356.
