Letter to the editor
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the citizens of Tryon. We asked you to stay away from each other as much as possible and help us to defeat the Covid-19. You have done a wonderful job of falling in line to protect both yourselves and your family, friends and neighbors. Harriet and I have driven through Tryon at least twice every day and have seen the results of your sacrifices. Please continue to get takeout from our local restaurants or our IGA if you are grocery shopping.
We have seen people reach out to each other and ask how they can help; we know many of you have made donations to help the less fortunate; we know that you have spent your dollars here as much as possible; and we know that you will continue to be the model for others. Because of your sacrifices, we do not have any cases of Covid-19 in our Town.
From the bottom my heart I thank you. I would like to be able to tell you that it will be over soon; however, at this point it is looking as if we have some time to go yet. Please know that the Town employees are as protected as we can make them. Also please remember that our fire and police departments are a part of our front lines against this invisible enemy. When you get a chance, say thank you to them and to all the other Town employees who are working under strange and sometimes scary conditions.
As I have said on many occasions, Tryon is the best place I have ever lived. The people here are what makes Tryon a great place.
Nearly perfect. Always Tryon!
Thank you, citizens. You make me proud to be your Mayor!
J Alan Peoples, Mayor
