One of the wonderful things about our area is that we are blessed with an abundance of really good places to eat! Our restaurants here in Tryon, Saluda and Landrum are very good and the food is great.
A couple come to mind: Harper, Stone Soup, Purple Onion, McGourty’s, Katy D’s and the many others that we all love. Most of these restaurants have stayed open for takeout only during this time of isolation caused by Covid-19.
My wife and I normally eat out three or four times a week, sometimes more. We intend to do the same with the takeout menus if for no other reason than to support these great places. When this is all over, we can enjoy them and have the same employees and wonderful food inside one of these great places. I hope all who read this will agree and make a real effort to support all our restaurants during this tough time.
One part of all this is that sometimes forgotten is the server and all the restaurant employees also need to maintain their income as much as possible. What can we do in addition to using the takeout service? We can continue to tip, maybe even leave a bigger tip. Just because it is takeout does not mean “no tipping” Tip big. I know every one of the restaurant people will be grateful!
Tipping is not an ancient city in china! It is a way for all of us to show our support to the special people who help make our restaurant experiences so wonderful. So, eat out (take out) and leave an extra big tip!
