Organization continues other normal daily operations, adoptions

During this period of uncertainty with the COVID-19 virus, Foothills Humane Society (FHS) is canceling all upcoming fundraising and monthly adoption events and is asking the community for assistance. In addition to helping bring awareness to the organization and increasing the number of adoptions, these gatherings are important to the day-to-day operations of the shelter. With the cancelation of these events, FHS needs Adoptions, Fosters and Supplies.

FHS is continuing normal shelter operations and has many wonderful pets looking for loving homes. FHS places the utmost importance of the health and well-being of staff, volunteers and the two-legged visitors to our facility. FHS is closely monitoring the situation and following protocol as laid out by animal welfare expert agencies including the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as governmental guidelines on social distancing.

The easiest way to support FHS is to adopt or becoming a foster. In preparation for an increase of dogs and cats coming to FHS, coupled with facing the possibility that the shelter may temporarily lose staff and volunteers in the near future due to exposure risk and public closures, we needs fosters who are willing to care for dogs and cats for a minimum of 30 days. FHS has dogs that can go home with other dogs, cats and children. The CDC reports that there is currently no known reason to believe that any animals, including pets in the United States, can contract or spread COVID-19.

Now is a great time to adopt a pet! Those considering adoption, FHS is waiving fees on adult dogs and cats for anyone who donates hand sanitizer, bleach, liquid laundry detergent, paper towels or toilet paper. All potential adopters must complete an application form, which can be found at https://www.foothillshumanesociety.org/adoption-questionnaire/
