Arrests made in car break-ins

Four outside of county people charged

COLUMBUS—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has identified four individuals this week for the car break-ins last month that occurred in the Peniel and Red Fox Road areas of the county. Of the four people, two are in custody in Rutherford County for other charges and two are still at large. 

All the people are from outside of Polk County.

Jaydakis kashaune Hamilton, of Miller Road, Rutherfordton, was charged with conspire to commit felony larceny; eight counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle; two counts of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny, according to sheriff’s office reports. Hamilton is currently in custody at the Rutherford County Jail under a $400,000 bond for charges in Rutherford County. 

Zachary Paul Hudson, of Parris Road, Rutherfordton, was charged with conspire to commit felony larceny; eight counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle; two counts of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny, according to sheriff reports. Hudson is currently in the Rutherford County Jail under a $400,000 bond for Rutherford County charges.

Jonathan Ellis McGee, of Missouri Street, Spindale is still at large, according to the sheriff’s office. Warrants have been issued for conspire to commit felony larceny; eight counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle; two counts of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny, according to sheriff reports. 

Zariahan Jabar Goode, of East Union Street, Morganton, is still at large. Warrants have been issued for Goode for conspire to commit felony larceny; eight counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle; two counts of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny, according to sheriff reports. 

The break-ins occurred in areas outside Columbus in the early morning hours of Feb. 11, 2020. Some victims took to social media talking about their cars being broken into in the middle of the night, with one victim reporting that they shot at the suspects with the suspects shooting back. There were no reported injuries. 

The sheriff’s office said during the investigation that the break-ins were related to vehicle break-ins in Landrum and Rutherford County. After working with other counties, conducting numerous interviews and following leads, the sheriff’s office charged the suspects for the crimes that occurred in Polk County. 

The sheriff’s office thanked the citizens of Polk County for their support and tips, as well as surrounding law enforcement agencies for their continued hard work and dedication to providing coordinated and effective law enforcement services to our citizens. 

“Our investigators work around the clock with other agencies to go after criminals no matter what jurisdictions they cross into or hide out in,” said Polk County Sheriff Tim Wright. “Our homes are sacred and should be safe places and when that sanctity is violated we will use every lawful resource at our disposal to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.” 

The suspects will face $150,000 bonds on the charges in Polk County.
