Columbus seeks suspect who fled traffic stop
COLUMBUS—The Columbus Police Department is searching for a man who fled a traffic stop along Interstate 26 Sunday.
Christopher Wayne Horne, 34, of Spartanburg, S.C. fled a traffic stop on foot, according to police reports.
Columbus Police Chief Scott Hamby said Horne was clocked by officers driving 93 mph along Interstate 26 and fled. Horne ran to Mountain View BBQ then jumped and ran into the woods. Hamby said the car was stolen and there was a 17-year old male also in the car that was entered as a missing juvenile.
The search continued around St. Luke’s Hospital but officers were unable to locate Horne.
The Columbus Fire Department assisted in the search with its Rescue 22 Special Operations Team and drone.
