Crash occurred Tuesday along Interstate 26

LANDRUM—A crash along Interstate 26 near Inman, S.C. Tuesday took the life of a Landrum resident. 

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office announced Wednesday night that the victim was Eric Paul Epner, 56, of S. Lee Ave., Landrum. 

The crash Tuesday afternoon involved a 16-year old driver of a pickup truck crossing into oncoming traffic and striking Epner’s vehicle. 

Epner died at the scene with the teenager taken to the hospital with injuries. The other person was not injured, according to reports. 

Epner was wearing a seatbelt, according to Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger. 

The crash occurred near exit 15 westbound close to John Dodd Road in Inman just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.  

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating but as of press time, no charges had been announced.
