The February meeting of the Foothills Music Club was held on Thursday, February 13 at the home of Karen Killough in Tryon. The theme was “Musical Surprises”. One of the surprises on the program was a jazzy bassoon and synthesizer duet. There were also vocal selections in German and English and piano solos of compositions by Beethoven and Erroll Louis Garner.  Completing the program were classical and flamenco guitar selections.

The Foothills Music Club members meet monthly in members’ homes from September through May. They perform all types of music, individually and in groups, vocally and on a variety of instruments.

Although members all have a love of music and a desire to continue improving their musical skills, their backgrounds are as diverse as the music they perform. As well as those who have been professional musicians, there are those who have been teachers in K-6, high school, and college. Some have been therapists, counselors, accountants, and administrators.
