A small but hard working group of volunteers continued their efforts to rid Woodland Park in Tryon of its invasive plants. They spent a morning cutting and piling up these non-native plants in hopes of helping the native tree saplings and wildflowers.

Those folks who volunteered were Karen Bird, Julia Ernst, Vard Henry, Richard Henson, John Lane, Greg Miner and John Vining. The volunteer workers encourage citizens to drive by the park’s Chestnut Street parking lot to observe the two piles of brush.

The next clean up is scheduled for the Tryon Cemetery on March 11th. There are lots of Chinese privet plants and tree saplings damaging the stone walls and grave markers. Interested individuals willing to volunteer are asked to show up at the town cemetery with tools in hand at 10am on that date.
