COLUMBUS – Curtis Brooks Hill of Columbus, passed away, Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020 at Smith Phayer Hospice House.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Polk County, he was the son of the late Hugh and Martha Jones Hill. Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Army in European Operations setting up radio communication systems. He began working at Kingspoint Mills and later went to work at Michelin Tire in Spartanburg as a machinist until his retirement. He was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hill.

 

Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Edwards Hill; two sons, Donald Hill of Columbus and Larry Hill (Tracey) of Inman; two grandchildren, Ansley Hill and Gaines Hill; two brothers, Joe Hill and Jay Hill; one sister, Linda Hayes. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Reverend Rob Hefner officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

 

Mr. Hill’s body will lie in state Thursday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel for anyone wishing to pay their respects.
