On December 26, 2019, we said said our goodbyes to Janet Amelia Mills Hudson, of Peniel Road after her long and hard fought battle with cancer and its many complications. She never gave up, and her determination to survive and carry on was admired by her family, her friends and her co- workers.
Janet was born on June 22, 1960, to Helen Gosnell Mills and Thadeus Lewis (Jake) Mills, and was raised in Polk county NC. She proudly proclaimed herself to a Polk county mountain woman. She was a dependable and dedicated, long time employee at Broyhill furniture in Rutherfordton. After marriage, she worked in Turkey NC for five years at Dewey Hudson’s store. She then worked for seventeen years at Reagan’s Shortstop in Lake Bowen where she met many good and loyal friends. She became known for making “the best sweet tea.” Janet was a huge fan of Elvis Presley, enjoyed taking cruises, loved taking care of her dogs, and reading novels. She was the proud and loving mother of her son, Lewis Hudson (New Jersey), and was also the dedicated and loving wife to Sampson Hudson for thirty five years. She is also by survived her brother Sandy (Sam) Mills of Mill Springs, NC. And her beloved dog Bizzy.
The family would like to thank their extended family and wonderful friends for the many calls of concern and their many acts of kindness and love during these many long, difficult days. They also would like to acknowledge and commend the many excellent dedicated doctors and nurses she met for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Foothills Humane Society.
