Cooper wins Miss Dance of SC

Makayla Cooper, senior dance student at Dance Dynamics, won Miss Dance of SC. She competed against some of the best dancers across North and South Carolina.

 

The competition was held in Myrtle Beach, SC, November 22-24. The dancers were judged in audition classes, interview and their dance performance. She performed a contemporary routine to “Ready or Not”.

Cooper won the interview award as well as the tap, ballet and jazz class awards. She will compete this July for Miss Dance of America in Orlando, FL.

 

Her dance was choreographed by Alyssa Wullimann. Cooper is a Senior at West Henderson High School. Also competing from Dance Dynamics were Bethany Smith and Aleigha Blackwell. Smith competed in the Teen Miss Division, performing a tap routine while Blackwell also competed a tap routine in the Petite Miss Division. She won 2nd runner-up to Petite Miss.

 

The students had a great weekend full of learning new dance techniques and making new friends. 

 

Cooper is looking forward to the National Competition in the summer and plans to work hard to achieve her next goal of winning Miss Dance of America.
