James Sexton of Chesnee went out to his pasture late last week to find that all four of his miniature ponies had been killed. Sexton shared that he believed something must have been chasing his ponies because one of the ponies was found dead on the outside of the pasture. He had to have jumped the fence, according to Sexton.

Sexton was waiting to bury the horses until after Animal Control and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office could come out and investigate.

Each pony had terrible marks from the kill. Sexton mentioned that two of the horses had their throats eaten out. The two other horses had their faces eaten off.

It was mentioned that dog tracks were found around the pasture and coyotes are not uncommon in the area, but it does not make the loss any easier, said Sexton.
